United Way check passing photoT-shirts and sweatshirts with the Bona Wolf mascot sporting a Santa hat were available for purchase in November with proceeds to benefit the United Way. Just over $707 was raised through the sale of 333 shirts.

The shirt initiative was coordinated by employees planning this year’s university employee holiday party, which annually supports a local nonprofit.

On Friday, Dec. 13, Susan McAuley, executive director of the United Way, joined in the celebration to receive a ceremonial giant check and thank the university for its support.

“We are incredibly grateful for St. Bonaventure University’s ongoing commitment to making a difference in our community,” McAuley said.

“The sale of these festive Bona Wolf shirts is a wonderful example of how the university brings people together to support vital programs that help our neighbors thrive. We deeply appreciate the generosity of the university’s employees, retirees, and planning committee for choosing to make a positive impact through the United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties. We share our warmest thanks with everyone who made a purchase – Go, Bona’s!"
